I fell asleep reading Annihilation and woke up at 7:30 am to finish it in a dream state. I can only remember a small part of my dream before I awoke but it was very...visually impactful. I was with this girl Alexis who I used to work with at a small gluten free bakery cafe thing back in NJ. There had been some sort of... church event of sorts that I had attended with my family and I was on my bike for some reason trying to meet them back at Nana's house but my CT hometown was dream distorted and the seasons were fluctuating between fall with bright orange and red leaves and spring with small tree buds. Dream distorted in the way where I kept getting lost because things werent how I remembered. Also there was a giant golden bull statue erected infront of Wolfe Park...Anyway idk why the fuck Alexis... Alexa? Was there but she cant ride bikes so I was actually walking my bike with her down this road where we approached some sort of fenced off farm and I decided we should cut through the back of the farm. As we approached I noticed on the gate enterance, next to the wired fence were all these squirrel pelts and very quickly we were approached by 3 barking pitbulls of all different shapes but all had their eyes gouged out. I almost woke from fright but then a jaunty farmer man approache and reassured us everything was fine and the dogs were friendly and that we could cut through his back yard. Which we did but then somehow were in his house? and I had no idea where my bike went and the dogs were barking and a lady with a bunch of kids showed up so I left. As in I purposefully awoke.In other news I made a dank dinner tonight. It was black oyster mushrooms cooked down with onions and a lot of garlic, white wine vinegar, pepper, salt, lemon parsley, thyme, kale coconut milk and sunflower seeds mixed with week old rice from choy wong.

I don’t remember my dream that well but I do know that I was staying in some sort of fancy cabin with people & stumbling upon a very small tall wooden room with a sky light out in the woods away from the cabin- I was told this is where I could go if I was being chased by wolves on the way home… but I was just hanging out in there soaking up the sun with a wolf spider, nuzzling myself into the corner n not caring about getting dusty… at some point in the dream tho it was raining and I was walking to the cabin and heard wolves so I ran to the structure and shut myself in in just enough time and the wolves were jumping up on the room n I could see them thru the window but then I realized they weren’t being vicious they were just jumping up like puppies n wagging their tails, neither of us cared about the rainIn another part of my dream the rain was fading and it was night time & I was trying to leave this bougie cabin and I had this little guide like Navi from Zelda who brought me to a bridge where I had to collect floating lightball keys as I crossed over it - but I was climbing the cabling not just crossing the bridge. When I got to the other side I jumped down onto a dark large boat deck (very big drop) and was like “wait can i go back if i wanted to?” And Navi was like uhhhhh I thought u wanted to leave? So then I just watched the lights in the water and felt the boat beneath me, looked at the moon shadows in the branches of the trees on shore… I could smell the lingering rain and knew my hair was wet n filled with dirt. Then, Chris from Beyond the Bars showed up with a keyboard and was like 'if we can find a monitor I can get the keys back so you can go back' but then i showed them the keyboard Alice loaned me bc it was in my backpack for some reason and i made them listen to how good the clicks sound

I have been reading Mo' Meta Blues by Ahmir Questlove Thompson, off of Libby which is an app that's connected to the library that you can use to check out e-books if youre into that kind of thing- anyway, I learned last night that Philadelphia was one of the leading developers IN THE WORLD for radio and television and this company Philco did a bunch of electromagnetic experimentations as early as the 1900's developing this technology. There used to be this experimental tv broadcast that ran for years before TVs were even availble to the general public called W3XE that started in 1932 and ran on 42-56 MHz & 60-86 MHz. It feels so cool to me to know that coincidentally I am living in a city that has deep roots in electromagnetic experimentation and wonder if the creeks that flow underneath the city, a moving conductor bed, have any correlation.February 8th 2023

The Difference Between Spruce, Hemlock and Fir Needles
1.5 gallons water

Fir trees have a pretty high sugar content. Like have you ever noticed how its sap crystalizes? Thats great for fermentation. the best bough tips are the young ones, which admittedly, we were not going to find in January but it was something to do and nice to be outside. This adventure also required that we figure out how to identify fir trees compared to Hemlock and Spruce which look very much alike. Fir tree needles are soft and flat and are suction cupped on to the stalk. The needles are arranged in two rows and grow outward, curving up from the twig to form a flattish spray. All spruce trees have sharp-pointed needles that are often 4-sided or diamond-shaped in cross-section and have four whitish striped lines. These needles are attached to the twig with wooden pegs. I will also say that spruce trees also tend to look more blueish to me. Hemlocks look the most like firs but the leaves are longer and not really flat.
We didnt find any fir trees, but that's ok.
